About Darlene Berg
Darlene Berg has been a dedicated member of the West Orange Public Schools instructional team for more than 20 years and is currently the Supervisor of Mathematics for grades K–5. Early in a career working with the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) instilled in Darlene the importance of using data to uncover the root causes of barriers to student achievement. This data-driven approach continues to guide her efforts to support educators and enhance student outcomes. Darlene’s work is deeply informed by Richard Elmore’s Instructional Core framework, which emphasizes the critical relationship among teachers, students, and content. She brings a broad range of classroom experience, having taught students from kindergarten through eighth grade in New Jersey and internationally in Portugal. In addition to her leadership and classroom experience, Darlene is a contributing author of the book Excellence Through Equity: Five Principles of Courageous Leadership to Guide Achievement for Every Student.
